Privacy Policy
We collect as little as possible, never sell your data, and you can delete everything any time.
Mini Brains Play (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides a screen-free home-learning app and website that helps parents and carers grow their child’s real-world strengths through short daily play. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We are based in Australia and handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This app is designed to be set up and used by an adult (a parent or carer) on behalf of a child. We do not create accounts for children or knowingly allow children to use the app directly.
Who we are
Mini Brains Play is operated by Tina Benias (ABN 76 657 946 691). You can contact us any time at hello@minibrainstrust.com.au.
The information we collect
We keep the information we collect to the minimum needed to run the service:
- Account information — the email address you sign up with, and a securely stored password (or, if you use Google sign-in, the basic account identifier Google provides). We never see or store your Google password.
- Your child’s profile — your child’s first name and age only. No surname, date of birth, photograph, or other identifying detail.
- Activity progress — which activities you mark as done, your streaks, badges and the strengths those activities build.
- Moments you choose to add — short private notes you optionally write about your child’s play.
- Basic technical information — standard device and performance information, used to keep the service working and secure.
We do not collect payment card details ourselves — payments are handled by Apple (on the App Store) or Stripe (on the web) under their own privacy terms.
How we use your information
We use your information to create and secure your account; personalise the app (for example, greeting you and your child by name and showing your progress); save and display your activity history, streaks, badges, Journey and moments; operate, maintain and improve the service; and contact you about your account or important updates.
We use your information only for these purposes. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show third-party advertising.
How your information is stored and shared
Your data is stored using trusted providers who help us run the app: Supabase (secure database and authentication), Netlify (hosting), and Apple and Stripe (payment processing, only if and when you subscribe). Some of these providers may store or process data on servers outside Australia; where that occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the APPs. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety, rights or property of our users or others.
Children’s privacy
Mini Brains Play is intended for use by adults with their children. We only ever collect a child’s first name and age, provided by the parent or carer, and only to personalise the experience. We do not knowingly collect any other personal information from or about children, do not build advertising profiles, and do not market to children.
Keeping your information, and deleting it
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Settings → Delete my account), which permanently removes your account, your child’s profile, and all associated progress, moments, badges and streaks. You can also email hello@minibrainstrust.com.au to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls provided by our infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and respond quickly if an issue arises.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles you can ask us to access or correct the personal information we hold about you — just email hello@minibrainstrust.com.au. If you have a concern about how we’ve handled your information and are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “last updated” date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app or by email.
